How long have you been DJ’ing?

FAQs...and then some!
Here are some of the more common questions we're asked which may help inform your decision to hire us! Don't see it listed here? Send us an e-mail with your question!
Can we see your contract before hiring you?
We encourage it so that everyone involved is comfortable! Both our DJ and photo booth contracts are available upon request.
What is your usual attire?
We wear a shirt and tie, unless the the couple has specified that their reception is not formal.
Can the client submit a request list or a do-not-play list?
Absolutely! It not only makes our job easier, but will make the client's event feel more personalized.
If you do not have one of the songs pre-requested by the client, do you require that they provide it?
With so many other things to attend to on their wedding day, we will first try to acquire the requested song (legally) ourselves, but should all attempts on our part fail, we would ask the couple to provide it as a last measure, with plenty of time in advance to be made aware of this.
Is the client able to meet the DJ before booking?
We strongly encourage a face-to-face meeting prior to booking our services. (If this is not possible, then a telephone call is recommended.) This will allow both the client and the DJ to get a better understanding of each others style and how we can make your reception the best possible.
Do you bring your own equipment?
Yes, we bring a 2-speaker set up, and require an hour to prepare the DJ booth. We also offer a second DJ rig, for smaller settings, or for remote locations (such as another room, ceremony music, etc.).
What is your equipment like? Do you carry back-up?
All of DJ BY JAKE’s DJs use reliable, modern equipment that is kept in excellent condition. All of our music is digital, as well, but back up is always at the ready, just in case. If you are interested in the brand names or specification of the equipment, please feel free to ask.
How much time do you usually need to set up? Do you require that the site or client provide a table for you to set up on?
We require an hour to set up, and an hour to break down. We require the facility to provide a dressed, sturdy, six-foot table, and a covering/canopy (if the event is outdoors) for each DJ setup.
